Estrogen Therapy Replacement is needed when the Menopause is in the moment in which period stops a woman. It is something habitual of aging. In previous years and while menopause, female hormone levels can go up and down. This almost always causes symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, pain during intercourse and vaginal dryness. The symptoms are not all the same in women, for some, they are mild and disappear on their own. Other women take hormone replacement therapy, also called hormone therapy for menopause, to relieve these symptoms. HRT can also protect against osteoporosis.
HRT is not for everyone, do not use it if some of this is mentioned:
- If you think you are pregnant
- If you have problems with vaginal bleeding.
- They have had some type of cancer that is no good for HRT
- If you had a stroke before
- If you have had a heart attack
- If you have had blood clots
- You have liver disease
There are different types of HRT. Some have only one hormone, while others have two. Most are pills that you take every day, but there are also patches for the skin, vaginal creams, gels and rings.
Taking HRT has risks
For some women, hormone therapy can increase their chances of having blood clots, heart attacks, strokes, and breast cancer and gallbladder disease. Certain types of HRT have a higher risk, and each woman’s risks may vary, depending on her medical history and lifestyle. You and your Medical Doctor should analyze the risks and benefits. If you decide to take HRT, it should be the lowest dose that helps and for the shortest time needed.
